Healthy Meal Manufacturer Initiates Wellness Campaign In Miami
MIAMI (March 3, 2020) — DeliverLean CEO Scott Harris is bringing his company’s health and wellness mission to the City of Miami in partnership with Mayor Francis Suarez. The Miami Moves Healthiest City Campaign, which Harris presented to Mayor Suarez, was launched during Suarez’s annual “State of the City” address last month.
“It’s time to focus on making sure our low-income residents can have low cost, nutritious meals,” Suarez announced. “This starts with promoting a healthy lifestyle with top notch nutrition. Providing health and wellness for everyone, in partnership with DeliverLean, we’ll be spearheading the Miami Moves Healthiest City Campaign, from our first responders and homeless to our seniors and children. This campaign will focus on providing nutritious meals and health education to our most deserving, needy and vulnerable residents.”
This program aims to raise Miami’s ranking from 38 into the top 20, by reaching the most underserved populations, the elderly, homeless, food-insecure youth and first responders. Lack of nutrition causes a negative domino effect including increased medical costs, return hospital stays and poor performance in schools. This campaign will help to eradicate these issues by providing nutritious meals from DeliverLean, educating these vulnerable groups about making healthy choices, emphasizing buying local and providing healthcare support and tracking from local hospitals.
Harris has seen his meal delivery service impact people’s lives and health outcomes on a bigger scale yearly, culminating in 2020 with the launch of several health-related endeavors, including the Miami Moves Healthiest City Campaign and DeliverLean CARE, which, in partnership with Humana and CarePlus Health Plans, provides medically-tailored meals to healthcare members at no additional cost.
“I approached Mayor Suarez with the idea of addressing the most food insecure groups in Miami with a multi-tiered initiative to feed and educate them,” Harris describes. “We created a panel to include local thought leaders and invited organizations like Humana, Baptist Health, FreshPoint, Halpern’s, Taste of Redland and the Florida Department of Agriculture.”
As one of the nation’s largest food manufacturers, DeliverLean’s 360-approach to healthy eating spans five divisions: DeliverLean CARE, which, provides medically-tailored meals to healthcare members at no additional cost; GRBNGO, which focuses on wholesale, with partners like Whole Foods, Aramark, Amtrak, Brightline and Cleveland Clinic; Perfect Fuel Meals, a macro-balanced meal plan for athletes; OnJuice, a cold-pressed, organic juice line; and DeliverLean, its signature home delivery model.
