Inter Miami CF Stadium to host weekly food distribution drive

Inter Miami will be opening up their stadium to support families in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting Wednesday, Inter Miami CF Stadium will serve as a weekly food distribution center in collaboration with DeliverLean and the Urban League of Broward County.

Broward County residents can collect non-perishable food items and/or fresh meals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m every Wednesday starting next week at the club’s stadium in Fort Lauderdale. People coming for the drive-thru service are directed to enter from NW 12th Ave.

The collaborative food drives will be another way for Inter Miami to support the South Florida community amid the pandemic. Julian Carranza, Lewis Morgan, Lee Nguyen and Rodolfo Pizarro played in a digital soccer tournament from their homes in Twitch’s Stream Aid 2020, an event that raised over $2.7 million for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The club announced Wednesday that David Beckham, the team’s co-owner and president of soccer operations, is auctioning the opportunity to play a soccer game and eat lunch with Beckham, as well as watch an Inter Miami home game from the owner’s suite when the Major League Soccer season resumes as a part of the All In Challenge, an online campaign aiming to raise funds for coronavirus relief efforts.

DeliverLean, one of the country’s largest healthy meal delivery services, has launched a food-drive initiative to collect non-perishable food items from South Florida homes in order to expand distribution locations.

Visit www.deliverleancares.com to donate items and DeliverLean’s network of drivers will pick up non-perishable items from individuals’ homes and redistribute to drop locations in the tri-county area.
